Veteran Wellington defender Ben Sigmund will see doctors on Monday to assess suspected concussion sustained during Saturday's 2-1 A-League loss to Western Sydney.

Sigmund was initially thought to be struggling with after effects from a virus when he hit the deck at Pirtek Stadium early in the second half, but the diagnosis changed when disorientation turned to vomiting, headaches and bad neck pain overnight.

The club sent him back to New Zealand on Sunday, and he will not play the away game against Sydney FC on Thursday.
