FIFA has given the green light for Wellington Phoenix's participation in the A-League for the next four seasons.
The ongoing participation for the Kiwi club is subject to ongoing ratification by the football's governing body.
The New Zealand-based side is an administrative headache for A-League officials as one of just a handful of clubs worldwide that play in leagues outside their country - and the only one which plays outside of its confederation of Oceania.
The FIFA Council, meeting ahead of the major FIFA Congress in Mexico City this week, authorised Phoenix's stay in the A-League through to 2021.
In February, Football Federation Australia granted Wellington a conditional 10-year licence to participate in the league through to 2026.
The Phoenix have been asked to lift crowds, memberships and TV ratings throughout the next decade.
The FIFA Congress is the first under new president Gianni Infantino.
